One old review can keep shaping product reputation after its price, screenshots, or feature claims are wrong. The useful task is finding which public pages repeat around the brand and checking the claims people will see there.
This online reputation management workflow maps those sources before anyone decides how to respond.
SocialListeningAPI searches Google results and public posts on Reddit, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, and TikTok. It returns normalized records with source URLs so you can build a reputation-source map. Fact-checking and outreach happen outside the API.
Step 1: Define the online reputation management questions
Create a SocialListeningAPI account, claim the 100 free credits, and connect the MCP to Claude or ChatGPT through OAuth before testing the query list.
Search more than the brand name. Add the questions a possible customer may use:
brand reviewbrand pricingbrand problemsbrand alternativebrand safebrand support
Add product names and common misspellings. Keep each query separate so you can see which wording causes a page or post to appear.
Step 2: Collect public reputation sources
Run the query list across Google and the five social sources. The MCP can collect the same records in Claude or ChatGPT when a marketer wants a plain-language workflow.
Ask for the source URL, title or post text, published date, author, query, and the main claim. Do not ask the model to decide whether a claim is true from the search result alone.
Step 3: Build the external source map
Store each unique URL in an external sheet or database. Group records by source type: vendor page, review, comparison, discussion, video, social post, or unknown. Count repeat domains and recurring claims outside SocialListeningAPI.
For each material claim, record one of these states:
- Verified from a current primary source
- Outdated
- Opinion or personal experience
- Missing context
- Unverified
Step 4: Choose the right response
Fix owned pages and documentation first. For independent pages, prepare a factual correction or updated source only when the claim is material. Do not pressure reviewers to remove criticism.
A human should approve every public response. Reddit replies also require a check of current community rules.
Conclusion
The expected outcome is a map of the pages, videos, and posts that repeatedly shape product reputation. Review the highest-impact outdated claims first, then keep the same query set for the next check.
