MCP integration

Social listening research from Claude or ChatGPT

SocialListeningAPI's MCP connects public social search to Claude and ChatGPT. Ask a research question in chat, and the model can search LinkedIn, X, Reddit, Facebook, Hacker News, TikTok, YouTube, or Google. It can search Instagram users, hashtags, and places; search public Reddit comments; fetch Instagram or X profiles; and fetch X conversations, comments from one Reddit post, or LinkedIn profile posts. It can then summarize results with source links. Facebook searches cost 7 credits. LinkedIn requests and Reddit comment searches cost 2 credits. Other current requests cost 1.

How the SocialListeningAPI MCP works

Connect your SocialListeningAPI workspace to Claude or ChatGPT through OAuth. Your chat app discovers the available search tools, while your SocialListeningAPI account handles access and workspace credits.

  1. Connect SocialListeningAPI from your Claude or ChatGPT settings.
  2. Sign in and approve permission to search with your workspace credits.
  3. Ask a research question in plain language.
  4. The model calls the right search tool and receives current public results.
  5. The model summarizes patterns and links the posts or Google results it used.

SocialListeningAPI supplies public search data. Claude or ChatGPT performs the summary, comparison, and other model-generated analysis.

Research without a large social listening subscription

A full social listening platform can be expensive when you only need focused research. SocialListeningAPI uses one-time credit packs, and the credits do not expire. You can run a search when you need one instead of paying for a large monitoring suite every month.

This fits topic research, competitor research, customer-language research, and finding relevant public conversations. Choose a dedicated social listening platform if you need native dashboards, continuous monitoring, scheduled alerts, sentiment analysis, or complete historical coverage.

Stop piecing together separate API actors

API marketplaces such as Apify are useful when you need a specific scraper. Multi-source research can still mean finding several actors, checking different output formats, and managing separate integrations as providers change.

SocialListeningAPI gives the MCP one connection for LinkedIn, X, Reddit, Facebook, Hacker News, TikTok, YouTube, Google results, and Instagram discovery. The response keeps the same core structure across sources, so Claude or ChatGPT can work with the results without a new integration for every platform.

What you can research

  • Find public conversations about a brand, competitor, product, or problem.
  • Compare recurring questions and topics across two supported sources.
  • Collect customer phrases, desired outcomes, and common complaints with source links.
  • Research a topic across public social posts and Google results.
  • Review an X profile, its posts, a tweet thread, or replies to one tweet.
  • Find Instagram users, hashtags, and places, then review a public profile.
  • Search Reddit comments or read comments from one Reddit post.
  • Read posts from one LinkedIn profile.

Benefits of using the MCP

  • Ask questions in plain language from a chat app you already use.
  • Use one OAuth connection instead of giving the chat app your API key.
  • Search several public sources through the same tool structure.
  • Keep source URLs beside the model's research summary.
  • Receive normalized results by default, or set raw to true.
  • Pay 7 credits for Facebook search.
  • Pay 2 credits for LinkedIn requests and Reddit comment search.
  • Pay 1 credit for other successful requests.
  • Failed requests use no credits.

Current limits

Results depend on public source availability and may not cover every matching post. The MCP does not provide continuous monitoring, alerts, reply automation, native sentiment analysis, or lead scoring. Discourse search is available through the HTTP API and is not available through the MCP. The raw option defaults to false.
